In the late 80's, a fictional comics publisher, Cargill Comics Corp. was on the verge of bankruptcy. In a last ditch effort to stay afloat, they acquired the rights to translate and distribute a little-known Japanese Manga series, TOAD SHOGUNATE:
The series turned out to be a massive hit. Eager to capitalize on the success of the recently ended series, Cargill Comics Corp decided to reboot the series, pulling from the then popular, edgy style of 1990's superhero comics:
In the mid-2000's, Cargill Comics Corp decided to once again resurrect the series, softening the character designs and storylines for a new, younger audience:
